Welcome to our first blog of the year. Every Friday, students will write about what we have done and what they have learned during the past week. Today, we will recount our favorite learnings from the first two months of school.
We learned different parts of monarch butterflies. We went outside and played their trip to Mexico. We learned that butterflies can fly until dark time. We talked to a scientist that studies insects, and he told us news about monarch butterflies. We studied their life cycles. We made posters to put up so people could sign. We learned monarch butterflies are fading away because people are cutting down their habitat and they are cutting down milkweed so they are not surviving. Tryston, Makayla, Fiona, Cooper, Colby, Kiley and Xander
We are learning how to do text-to-text connections. We've been reading books and trying to do text-to-self connections. We are doing text-to-world connections. It helps us to understand the meaning and characters of the story. Xander, Ethan N., Morgan, Makayla, and Tryston
We studied about Jackie Robinson and Babe the Gallant Pig to learn about traits of greatness and all the traits of greatness we should have. We studied about Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese and Branch Rickey to see what they did that was great. Colby, Eliot, Naomi, and Ethan N.
We've been reading read-aloud books after lunch and specials and recess and we enjoy them. We wrote a letter to Russell Erickson, an author of Toad for Tuesday. Heather, Xander and Morgan
