Welcome to our first blog of the year. Every Friday, students will write about what we have done and what they have learned during the past week. Today, we will recount our favorite learnings from the first two months of school.
We learned different parts of monarch butterflies. We went outside and played their trip to Mexico. We learned that butterflies can fly until dark time. We talked to a scientist that studies insects, and he told us news about monarch butterflies. We studied their life cycles. We made posters to put up so people could sign. We learned monarch butterflies are fading away because people are cutting down their habitat and they are cutting down milkweed so they are not surviving. Tryston, Makayla, Fiona, Cooper, Colby, Kiley and Xander We are learning how to do text-to-text connections. We've been reading books and trying to do text-to-self connections. We are doing text-to-world connections. It helps us to understand the meaning and characters of the story. Xander, Ethan N., Morgan, Makayla, and Tryston We studied about Jackie Robinson and Babe the Gallant Pig to learn about traits of greatness and all the traits of greatness we should have. We studied about Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese and Branch Rickey to see what they did that was great. Colby, Eliot, Naomi, and Ethan N. We've been reading read-aloud books after lunch and specials and recess and we enjoy them. We wrote a letter to Russell Erickson, an author of Toad for Tuesday. Heather, Xander and Morgan

When you get finished with your sentences and your pictures, you get to go on to "I-movie" and you get to learn how to make your own I-movie. I think the big idea of the I-movies is that people should stop killing animals for their fur and for fun and keeping them in captivity, and to also stop people from causing habitat destruction. Taylor In gym, we went outside and played kickball. We had teams, like a pinny team and a shirt team. Ryan and Isac This week we all went to Heritage Farm and we named a baby pig "Bob." Bob was really cute and the first baby pig I (Harry) have seen in my life. We learned that people with disabilities aren' t very different from us. They were able to take care of animals and help each other out, and one of the girl could remember your birthday forever if you told them once. We also learned that animals are important because one of their main attractions is the animals. I think it's amazing that people with disabilities can do awesome things that people without difficult disabilities can't do. Sami, Harry, Riley, Ari and Sarah Last night, we had the science fair and Emilia and Sam L. and Michael and Simon were in it with me. Emily We are getting ready for our Rain Forest Night and we are learning about a lot of new animals and learning what their habitats are and where they live in the rain forest. Harry, Taylor, Isac and Sami This week we drew triangles and we did multiplication facts on the bottom of the triangles and then we drew the answer on the top point and then we did division facts towards that. We had groups and Miss Poole added our group's final numbers and got our final score. Sam S., Isac and Riley Today in library we watched two videos about China and Japan. He said that in Morocco they have camels and camel burgers and a guy had a big hat and Harry showed us pictures of him being in the ocean and doing other stuff like holding a bottle in the air and he had pictures of the food he ate. He said, We chiseled fossils out of rock and brought them to America. |
