Welcome to my first ever blog post, and the first for this class this year. I will try to include information about what is happening in class along with student observations. I will use the post to add additional ideas to what is on my front page. Again, write back with any comments or suggestions.
We learned our math facts - lots of them. Sam S. and Harry
In math we are learning to do measurement. We are practicing how to use rulers the right way. Briahna
I got to eat pickles for snack!! Sami C.
We have been practicing borrowing in subtraction. Riley
We've been finishing up our personal narratives. Sarah
We used a pen to cross out words that didn't make sense. Taylor
We read them as partners. We gave each other comments. We put words in that we needed to put in. Keaton, Destiny and Isac
We talked about the election. We talked about the Electoral College and it's not all about the popular vote, it's about the Electoral College. Sam S. and Ian
We certainly have started learning our math multiplication facts. We have worked on multiples of 0, 1, 2, 5 and 10 in the class. We will be starting our 3s on Tuesday and work with them for two weeks. I will explain more at our upcoming conferences about how you can help your child learn these important facts.
I had a great time talking with the students about the election. They were very aware of what was going on and very interested in how we elect a president - and they kind of got the idea of the Electoral College, amazingly enough!!
Our personal narratives are almost done - we have done much editing and revision - and we will try to get them ready for conferences. They are focused on very interesting "small moments" in the lives of the students, and have given the students a better insight into the writing process.
Again, I hope you enjoy our blog, and see you at conferences.
